
Bar-S Brings the Heat: Try This Texas Chili Dog Recipe
Ingredients:
CHILI
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 large sweet onion, peeled and diced
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 4 ounces canned tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
HOT DOGS
- Chopped onion (for garnish)
- 8 BAR S® Classic Franks
- 8 Hot Dog Buns
Preparation:
For the Chili:
1. Place a Dutch oven over medium- high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking into fine crumbles as it cooks, add chopped onion and mix until the meat is no longer pink.
2. Drain any excess grease and liquid.
3. To the ground beef, add the chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, allspice, nutmeg, garlic powder, cumin, cinnamon. Cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly.
4. Add the ketchup, tomato sauce, water, and Worcestershire sauce to the pot and stir to combine.
5. Bring the chili to a simmer. Then the reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
For the Hot Dogs:
1. Place the BAR S® Franks in hot grill and cook for 7 min
2. Toast the hot dog buns
3. Serve the chili over cooked hot dogs.
