Bring the Heat to Your Backyard BBQ with Jalapeño Smash Burgers
Ingredients:
For the Burgers
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- Garlic & Onion Powder
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- Yellow cheese slices
- Burger buns
For the Jalapeño Onion Topping
- 1/2 white onion, sliced into strips
- Sliced jalapeños, to taste
- Garlic powder to taste
For the Burger Sauce
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 2 tbsp pickles, finely chopped
- A splash of Worcestershire sauce
- Garlic powder, to taste
- Onion powder, to taste
Preparation:
- Season the meat with onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Divide the ground beef into small balls.
- Flatten each ball using a tortilla press to create thin burger patties.
- Heat a griddle over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the hot griddle.
- Cook until the patties start to brown, then flip and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from the griddle and set aside.
- On the same griddle, add the sliced white onion and jalapeños. Season with a little more garlic salt and cook, stirring constantly, until the onion begins to soften. Remove from the griddle.
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Place the burger patties back on the griddle and top each one with yellow cheese. Cook until the cheese melts.
- To assemble, spread the sauce on the buns, add the cheesy smash burger patty, and top with the cooked jalapeño and onion mixture.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
