Celebrate the Lenten Season with These Delicious Shrimp Tacos
Ingredients:
For the Shrimp
- 1 lb cleaned and finely chopped shrimp
- 2 Roma tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 white onion, chopped
- 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
For the Spicy Cabbage Sauce
- 1/2 green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 3 Roma tomatoes
- 2 garlic cloves
- Chile de árbol (to taste)
- Salt and oregano to taste
- Water (for blending)
- Chopped cilantro
Preparation:
- To prepare the shrimp mixture, clean and finely chop the shrimp and place it in a bowl. Add the chopped tomatoes, onion, cilantro, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix well, then add the flour and stir until the mixture is evenly combined.
- To prepare the cabbage sauce, thinly slice the green cabbage and set aside. In a blender, combine the tomatoes, garlic, chile de árbol, salt, oregano, and a little water. Blend until smooth, then pour over the sliced cabbage. Add chopped cilantro and mix well. Set aside.
- Assemble the tacos using warm tortillas and a small amount of the shrimp mixture. Fry until golden and crispy on both sides. Serve with avocado and the spicy cabbage sauce.
