Breakfast - something I could eat all day, everyday.
Now healthy breakfast on the other hand? That's quite
a struggle. That is, until I got introduced to an oatmeal overhaul
thanks to Women's Health Magazine. In their December
issue, they had an article titled, Overhaul Your
Oatmeal with a delectable picture of Strawberries and Cream oatmeal. Not only did
it look super healthy, the recipe was as easy as elementary
school and it was delicious.
Here it is - plain and simple:
Add 1/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1/4 cup
sliced strawberries to oatmeal and stir well. Garnish with
PER SERVING: 300 cal, 3.5 g fat (0.5 g sat), 61 g carbs, 25 mg
sodium, 6 g fiber, 12 g protein
Not bad, right?
They also had a great recipe for Maple-Bacon Oatmeal.
If you'd like to try an even heartier type of oatmeal,
Irish steel-cut oats may be for you: steel-cut oatmeal is the
least processed kind of oatmeal, giving the dish more texture and a
slightly nuttier "mouth feel."
