Need a Kick-Start? Hava Cappa-ccino!

Cappuccino

History tells us that this popular beverage got its name from Italian monks called the Catholic Capuchins, who wore robes and hoods that resembled the drink's shape and color. Add an "ino" for the "little hood" - and the drink took its place in history.

Served iced cold or steaming hot and with or without alcohol, drinking a cappuccino should be like drinking velvet. When prepared correctly, it is the perfect balance of frothed milky sweetness backed by a beautiful body of espresso. Sometimes the foam is decorated with drawings called latte art. Shaved chocolate, raw sugar, cinnamon, or other spices can be sprinkled on top of the finished drink. You can also melt chocolate into the coffee before adding the milk.

Mocha

In Italy, and throughout continental Europe, cappuccino was traditionally served early in the day as part of breakfast. Generally, Europeans did not drink cappuccino after breakfast, preferring espresso throughout the day and following dinner. However, in recent years, Europeans have started to drink cappuccino throughout the day. Especially in The UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy, cappuccino is popular at cafés in the afternoon and in restaurants after dinner. In the United States, cappuccino has become popular along with the recent boom in the specialty coffee industry.
